Allergies: Treatment Options

An allergy is essentially an overreaction of the immune system. This means that it malfunctions and attacks not only real threats like bacteria and viruses, but also completely harmless substances like pollen, house dust, or animal hair.

However, this immune system malfunction can be treated! Dr. Schleicher-Brückl is a specialist in immunology with many years of experience as an allergist.

That’s why you shouldn't simply accept the burdensome symptoms of an allergy, but take active steps to correct the dysfunction in your immune system.

What Does Treatment at Schleicher & Brückl Practice Look Like?

1. Diagnosis

First, a comprehensive diagnosis is carried out. We assess your immune status and perform various allergy tests. Thanks to our experience and ongoing training, we can diagnose allergies quickly and accurately.

2. Avoiding Allergy Triggers

The simplest way to improve allergy symptoms is to avoid contact with the triggering allergen. That may sound easy, but in practice, it is rarely feasible. Pollen and pet allergens are airborne, making complete avoidance almost impossible.

3. What About Nasal Sprays, Eye Drops, and Allergy Tablets?

Pharmacies offer a wide range of medications to treat allergy symptoms. However, these antihistamines are suitable only for short-term symptom relief. They do not address the root cause — the immune system’s overreaction. This means your allergy will keep coming back.

4. Detoxifying Therapy

To restore immune balance and correct the malfunction, the first step is to eliminate inflammatory substances and toxin buildup from the body. Be sure to drink plenty of fluids during this detox phase! Ideal options include herbal teas, magnesium-rich mineral water, or alkaline broth.

Alkaline broth: 1 liter of water, 3 potatoes, 1 carrot, 1 large piece of celery – chop everything, cook in a pressure cooker for 20 minutes, do not add salt! – strain and drink the unsalted broth.

5. Desensitization

In this step, the immune system learns that its overreaction to harmless substances is unnecessary and should stop attacking them.

Blind Desensitization: The advantage of this method is that the specific allergen does not need to be identified. A small amount of blood is taken and enriched with specific substances to create active immune drops. These should be taken for at least one year.

This trains your immune system to stop overreacting to the allergen.

Allergies can severely impact your daily life and are serious — but treatable — conditions. Take advantage of our many years of experience in allergology and free yourself from your allergy quickly!
